Privacy Policy

Carva is built offline-first. The practical meaning of that: the records you create -- your trips, fuel logs, service history, documents and parking -- are stored in a database on your own phone, not on our servers.

What stays on your device

Recorded GPS traces, trip routes, fuel and service records, expenses, parking locations, scanned documents and photos. Document and odometer scanning runs on your device using on-device text recognition; those images are never uploaded.

What is sent, and only when you choose

Cloud backup. If you sign in, Carva can back up your records to your own private area of Firebase so a new phone can restore them. Only your account can read it.

Road trips and clubs. When you join one, other members see the name and vehicle label you chose, and your live position only while you have sharing switched on. You can stop at any time.

Family & Friends. You choose, section by section and person by person, what someone can see. Turning a section off deletes the shared copy.

Competition figures. Only the single figure you tap to enter. Never your journeys or records.

What is never shared

Your recorded GPS routes, your document images, what you paid for anything, your registration plate (unless you explicitly pick plate as your display name), and your payment details.

Third parties Carva uses

Google Firebase (accounts, backup, shared features), Google Maps and Places (map display and place lookup), and Mapbox (recorded trip maps). Each receives only what its function requires.

Your rights

You can export your data, delete individual records, or delete your account and all associated cloud data from inside the app under Profile → Account. See deleting your account.
